One Cartridge not a box, 38 Special T.H.O.R. For (Thermo Hydro-static Ordnance Round) by ThunderZap Ammunition Inc. Using (then new) 1987 Federal Cartridge Company brass cases with a “FC 87" Head Stamp and loaded with a molded plastic with a huge hollow point or as stated called T.H.O.R (for Thermo Hydro-static Ordnance Round) bullet.
History of the 38 Special T.H.O.R. cartridge and the ThunderZap Ammunition Inc:
This was introduced in the late 1980s by Bruce McArthur, owner of ThunderZap Ammunition Inc. of Morrice, Michigan in the USA; however, the ammunition was manufactured by a separate company that was made up of Bruce McArthur, Rich & Karen Davis and Bill Stenbeck.
The bullet was molded plastic with a huge hollow point or other wise called T.H.O.R (for Thermo Hydro-static Ordnance Round) bullet.
It was meant to be a safe for home defense use with good lethal stopping power, yet very short range to avoid collateral damage.
The ammunition was ultra high velocity - 2800 feet per second out of a 4-inch revolver.
The idea may have been before it’s time and if after 911 (Sept, 11, 2001) may have been a good idea for the airline agencies, but it never seemed to take off in the late 1980s and the company was dissolved after a few years.
